2008 AHEC South Arkansas Graduates

The 2008 graduates of the AHEC South Arkansas Family Medicine Residency Program were honored on Friday, June 20th, at 12 noon, in the Ellis Conference Center of AHEC South Arkansas. After the successful completion of the three-year residency program, these physicians are eligible to take the Board Examiniation for certification in the specialty of Family Medicine. |
M*A*S*H (Medical Application of Science for Health)

The M*A*S*H Program was held at AHEC South Arkansas during the first two weeks of June. This is a program for students entering their junior or senior year of high school. This program allows teenagers to experience the real world of medicine, nursing, pharmacy,
dentistry, and allied health in hopes that they will pursue a health career. |

Stepping Out to "TOUCH" Union County Finale
A wrap-up event and celebration of "Stepping Out to TOUCH Union County" was held on Saturday, May 10th at HealthWorks Fitness Center. A 5K run and a 2 mile walk preceded the announcement of the final rankings. The 7-week fitness program sponsored by Tremendous Opportunities for Union County Health (TOUCH) encouraged participants to enjoy exercising.
A total of 40,914.10 miles was recorded by the 210 walkers, runners, and bikers who participated. Congratulations to all "Stepping Out" participants.

The first issue of The Beacon is now available . The Beacon is an electronic newsletter for AHEC South Arkansas alumni and other interested individuals. The Beacon will be an annual newsletter.
